Final Major Projects
Graduates of the Performance Studies Programme present their Final Major Projects annually in June at the Kampnagel Centre for Contemporary Fine Arts in Hamburg.
These 20-minute individual works of contemporary performance art combine elements of dance, theatre, choreography and directing. As the product of artistic and academic research processes, they alternate between modes of action and reflection.
Artistic masters projects are supervised by artistic mentors, generally the current visiting art professor and a dramaturge. The exploring of various aesthetic approaches and referencing of differing theoretical discourses yield heterogeneous and unconventional artistic performances. Collaboration and joint exploration of such artistic media as text, images and body movements – and the interplay between these – turn the work process into a process of reflection.
